United States, 19th Oct 2024 — CPSD members Mark C. Hill, CFP®, CDFA®, Financial Divorce Consultant and Shawn Weber, CLS-F®, Family Law Mediator and Divorce Attorney along with Peter Roussos, M.A., MFT, CST, Therapist and Divorce Coach are The Three Wise Men of Divorce: Money, Psych & Law, a fun and informative podcast with frank and casual conversations about divorce, separation, co-parenting and the difficult decisions real people like you face during these tough times.

A recent podcast of The Three Wisemen of Divorce was titled Transforming Anger in Divorce: Insights and Strategies with Dr. James Walton, Ph.D.  They discussed divorce, separation, co-parenting and the difficult decisions real people face during these tough times.

"Divorce is a hard thing to do. It is even worse when children are involved," Mr. Weber said. "Taking care of kids, their needs and making sure the children know the divorce is not their fault is a must during the separation period."

At the same time, both of the parents in the divorce have to understand how their lives are about to change. Mr. Weber said grasping that and also understanding the other person is also facing the same challenges is a major step forward.

The Three Wise Men podcast lets the three experts come together and share their knowledge with the general public. The Podcast was also selected as one of California's top law podcasts by Feedspot.

"We can reach everyone. You can be in England, Chili, or the Pacific Islands and listen to the podcast. While the rules for divorce are different in every state and every country, the needs of the family going through a divorce do not change," Mr. Weber said. "Kids around the world need to know their parents may be separating, but the children are still loved and both parents care."

Finance is another issue that should be addressed before signing the divorce decree. Mr. Hill said everyone's financial situation will change and everyone has to understand how to move forward.

Roussos covers the psychological impact on the family in the divorce. He works with people to learn how to get past anger and channel that energy into positive directions.

In the podcast, the host and guest explore the intricate dynamics of anger during divorce and offer practical strategies for managing these intense emotions. Listeners can learn how to separate feeling angry from outward expressions of anger and why making conscious choices about our reactions is vital for healthy communication.

Discover the power of pausing conversations, modeling calm behavior, and reframing complaints into constructive proposals. Dr. Walton shares invaluable insights on how feeling heard and validated can significantly reduce anger.

Dr. Walton offers wisdom on understanding the underlying emotions masked by anger, such as fear or shame, and how family history impacts relationship dynamics.

Whether navigating divorce or seeking better ways to communicate, this episode is packed with actionable advice and heartfelt stories to help you foster healthier, more constructive relationships.

At Collaborative Practice San Diego, we emphasize the utility of a collaborative divorce, also called a peaceful divorce. In other words, we try to get both sides to approach this in a calm and rational manner. It works best for all involved when that happens," Mr. Weber said.

The CPSD hosts monthly open forums for the public about collaborative divorce called Divorce Options Workshops® which are open to all individuals and couples contemplating separation or divorce.
