July 2025 BREW Readers’ Choice Award Winners Announced

The Chrysalis BREW Project celebrates nine standout titles chosen by readers across the globe

The Chrysalis BREW Project has announced the recipients of the July 2025 BREW Readers’ Choice Award – Book of the Month. Chosen for their originality, emotional resonance, and overall impact, these books have captured the hearts and votes of readers and represent some of the most compelling titles reviewed this calendar year.

The BREW Readers’ Choice Award is a monthly distinction that highlights books readers have enthusiastically embraced—books that tell powerful stories and offer something meaningful to the literary world. The award supports the project’s broader mission to promote diverse voices and exceptional storytelling.

Among the awardees is The Doctor’s Future by Dr Pietro Emanuele Garbelli, a visionary work exploring the evolving role of healthcare and ethics in society. Also honoured is The Foundling: Heir to Ash and Blood by Donald Firesmith, a gripping fantasy that challenges systems of power through rich world-building and character-driven narrative.

Young readers and families were touched by Little Joe and the Big City by Mike Darcy, a heartfelt tale of a puppy’s adventures in an unfamiliar world. Letters from Gilgil 1 and Letters from Gilgil 2 by Peter Massam both earned recognition for their moving portrayal of cross-cultural relationships and enduring human connections.

Brenda K. Uekert’s memoir The Woman on the Ferry was selected for its inspiring account of personal transformation, while Apprenticed to the Night by LindaAnn LoSchiavo received praise for its haunting, poetic exploration of the supernatural.

S.S. Turner’s The Last Toll Collector, a darkly satirical examination of modern life’s contradictions, was lauded for its originality, and The Ballad of Billy Lopez by Stewart McKay rounded out the list with a raw, emotionally charged story of reckoning and redemption.

These winners exemplify the excellence that the BREW Readers’ Choice Award stands for—books that speak to the human spirit and deserve to be widely read and celebrated.
